Less is more is a popular design aphorism – and as a general principle I favor the cleaner, simpler designs it produces. But I think the more accurate direction is to make deliberate choices – we should have reasons for everything we include or exclude.
Stickers are like the mini-cupcakes of the design world - small, fun, and tasty. What’s not to love? But even with so small a canvas, the bigger rules still apply. Everything needs to be there for a reason - all the more so because there is room for only so many choices. We can lard up our creations with creative sprinkles, but with too many we risk obscuring the message we hope to deliver.
